Psychology Optional: Is classroom coaching necessary?
Classroom coaching is not extensively available for the subject through out India like History or Public Administration. Having said that, the subject can be covered without any classroom coaching, if the candidate is focused and has right guidance and materials. Always focus on Psychology Optional syllabus prescribed by UPSC to stay focused.

If you want to take psychology as your optional subject in UPSC CSE exam, and you haven’t studied this subject till now it will be bit difficult because psychology might be interesting subject but full of psychologist researches and you might need a help initially. I am bsc clinical psychology student and by my experience start with class 11-12 NCERT books as base and read journal papers about new psychological researches and books prescribed above are great, more of foreign writers.
