Malavikaโs story is extraordinary:
She gave birth to her son on September 3, and just 17 days later, she appeared for the UPSC Mains Examination on September 20, 2024.
Balancing postnatal recovery, emotional upheavals, and the sheer pressure of one of Indiaโs toughest exams, Malavika embodies the very spirit of resilience.
In her words: โIt was a highly strenuous attempt. I was able to write the exam only because of the unwavering support from my family.โ
Malavika G Nairโs climb through UPSC Ranks
This was not Malavikaโs first tryst with the UPSC journey:
- In 2022, she secured AIR 172 and joined the Indian Revenue Service (IRS) as a Deputy Commissioner-rank officer.
- Determined to enter the IAS, she took her last eligible attempt in 2024 and succeeded brilliantly.
Malavika was attempting the UPSC exam for the sixth and final time, and her hard work finally paid off.
Her prior experience in UPSC exams helped her immensely, but it was her inner strength that carried her through the unique challenges she faced this time.
Strong Family Support
Hailing from Chengannur in Alappuzha district, Kerala, Malavika comes from a supportive family ecosystem. Her husband, Nandagopan M, is a 2023 batch IPS officer, currently serving as the in-charge of Manjeri Police Station in Malappuram district.
Speaking about her achievement, he said:
โThe effort she took while carrying the baby and preparing for the exam was massive. She truly deserves this success.โ
